Let me be clear, loving your children and wanting to share that joy with others who share the sentiment is really hecking nice – but that phrase and associated topic itself is an assumption that everyone’s experience as a child or with children has been positive and thus a goal.

For those who haven’t, the topic CAN end with “Oh, you don’t want children? You’ll change your mind” which is the REAL pain here. That is what Damian is trying to avoid the conflict of by turning away, not correcting Tina’s assumption.

Tina chuckles. "Ah well, whatever it is, it keeps the kids entertained! And I get to sneak away and have a drink for once!"
Damian looks puzzled. "You can't drink when your kids are at home?"

Tina explains, conjuring an image of her asleep on her sofa. "Well I can, yes, but I'm usually so tired after putting them to bed. That and a glass of wine just sends me stright to sleep. If I wasn't asleep already!"
Tina glows happily. "Kids are a handful."
Damian however looks un unimpressed, thinking "You're tired. I get it."

Tina again beams welcomely. "You'll see when you have your own kids!"
Damian turns away, tugging the end of his ponytail and looking distressed. He avoids her expression and her statement entirely. "Ahh yeah I guess...."
