This is the nicer version of the story cause here it’s wrapped cookies but for me the guy was always putting his hands and grabbing UNWRAPPED cookies

While you’re here, I want to show off everything I’ve learned between the first version of my comic from 2018 to this version (2021)

For one, cramming all your dialogue into one panel is great for time efficiency and can work (It’s still readable here after all) but it can also be a bit much all at once. One top of that, my original font was a little too bouncy and uneven for these sort of big text dumps so the text is smooching a little too close to the edges of the speech bubbles for comfort.

At least now I realised I absolutely have space on the page to spread out the dialogue more, to a point I could even focus more on Ash and his emotions with an extra panel. Time efficiency was great at the time when I was new to this and my technical know how made me very slow at drawing; now I’m faster at comic making overall so I can easily accommodate that better pacing and lettering.

Comparison of the same panel from 2018 to 2021 where the old chaotic, awkward lettering of the former has been replaced with smoother, nicer lettering in the newest version.

But oh boy-o it sucks I made those mistakes but at least I learned from them (Third round of edits and I’m hoping this is it now)

Ash pleads to the elderly man before him, though the intense silent staring his receives as he talks is making him flustered. His attempts to persuade the frozen figure of the man before him sound more like questions then orders.

Ash: umm... Please can you not put your hands in the drawers? Or in the food? It's to prevent contamination and al that... stuff.

The customer's expression is firm as he juts out his jaw slightly; his bushy eyebrows framing his steely stare.
He narrows his eyes, before lifting up a single wrapped cookie with minimal movement to his chest defensively and begins to almost snarl at Ash.
Customer: I was getting myself some cookies.

Ash, in his timid nature, tries to make his case.
Ash: Sir, if it helps, we keep the cookies stocked right here on display... these are all good to go...

Immediately behind the customer on the racking above the cupboards he was ransacking, is a display completely full of cookies.

The older gentleman's eyes are still looking in a piercing stare, bright against the looming darkness.

Customer: There weren't enough out.
