I am typing this up at 10pm on a bank holiday when shops are naturally and rightfully closed, but boy do i wish I had some manchego right now. It’s pricey though and i don’t eat a lot of cheese, so maybe another day I will try to find a small amount just for me.

Comment if you would have come back for the Manchego 🙏

(Sheep’s milk cheese like manchego is also generally good for those who are Lactose intolerent)

The slender, older black woman leans in from the side of the stock cage and addresses Ash.
“She's joking with you.You must be Ash?”
Ash smiles politely. “Ah, yes! That’s me. Nice to meet you!”
She stands calmly, gently clapping her hands together into a soft greeting.
“I’m Khara. It is nice to meet you properly outside of reading your name on the rota every week. For what it's worth, I can assure you that we didn't plan to leave you alone on your first shift on a new counter.”
Ash sheepishly takes a box from her, avoiding her eye contact. “Okay…I wasn't sure...
I keep turning up for training at the worst times… ha ha…I really do think I'm being tested for real…”

Khara softly chuckles. “We do enough paperwork. Marking tests would be one tedium too
many!”

Meanwhile on the other counter, the tall male coworker mutters under his breath. “If you were
down from your lunch on time, Ash wouldn't have been left alone in the first place…”
Verity’s notices and asks “Did you say something?”

He mutters evenmore quietly as he realises his mistake. “No no Just - Talking to...myself(!)”

Verity fully turns to him as she holds a cheese slice. “WAIT! Did a customer come back for
some more Manchego?!”
“Hmmm… I dunno. Don’t think so.”

Verity melodramatically flails. “Aaaaaa typical! I could’ve stayed with him! Gah!”
