I’ve re-written this chapter far too many times and it took until this year to realise the problem with what CJ was saying in the previous pages was: her assumption that people who bargain hunt are on the poverty line because they LOOK like they are on the poverty line. When actually we have a lot of people who have high property/material wealth but no savings/wages.

I don’t always wanna go too serious or deep with my supermarket shenanigans but ultimately if you work any sort of retail job, you are probably doing to encounter this a fair bit depending on where you live/work.

I just wanted to have my little moment on it, so thanks for indulging me(!)

[Ash looks to CJ earnestly.]
Ash: And how do you know who NEEDS to bargain hunt or not? By how they look?

[CJ realises her error. Her eyes flash in fear, before she doubles down in on her self, looking both mortified and frustrated at herself. As someone with elaborate arm tattoos, ear plugs and an alternative fashion style, she is alarmed by her lack of foresight at the discussion. The walls distort around her.]

CJ: No- I never- I just - That's not what I'm trying to say- I wouldn't DARE judge people on their appearance.

[Ash grips his tie in embarrassment, looking forlorn. Something appears to be haunting him.]
Ash: Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude... people usually judge- especially around well... me....

[Ash gets up from leaning on the counter, placing his hands firmly on the side and looking to CJ.]
Ash: Look, lets just admit that being here sucks. Agree to disagree?
CJ: Look Ash-
