My theory is that old tannoy speakers not only call out to people in the store but also through 5 extra dimensions in time and space. Yet still cannot guarantee someone will appear.

The co worker frowns slightly, bringing out a work phone and typing in a number.
“That said, Khara should have been back from lunch by now to cover so you wouldn’t be
alone. Give me a sec..”
His stands straight, looking upwards as he speaks through the phone. The tannoy speaker behind to them blasts his voice mixed with static: “WILL MRS ROWLANDS OR MS BELLAMY PLEASE COME TO THE DELI COUNTER”
The feedback causes Ash to freeze up a little, before the other notices. With an embarrassed smirk, he says “hmm? Oh, yeah. You’ll get used to the Feedback after a while.”
Ash cheerfully brushes it off. “I really hope I do, or I'll go deaf!
The co worker strains a grin and looks away as he mutters “probably deaf, considering no one ever seems to hear their name being called(!)”
Ash looks at him. “Sorry, I didn't quite catch that?”
The co worker smiles, and pulls out a finger gun to Ash. “ha ha, good one.”
Ash doesn’t get it.
